Privacy policy

This policy covers what we collect, why we collect it, who processes it for us, and how you get it deleted. We have tried to write it the way we write everything else — so a student can actually read it.

What we collect

• Account basics — your email address (used to sign in with one-time codes; there are no passwords) and, if you connect it, your GitHub username.
• Your work in the program — the code you push to your program repo, your pull requests, review results and scores, defense answers, chat messages with the AI team, and your Claude conversation transcripts. Transcripts are part of the product: they are reviewed and scored as one of the four review passes.
• Payment records — payments are processed by Razorpay. We never see or store your card number, UPI PIN, or banking credentials; we store the payment reference, amount, and tier you purchased.
• Basic technical data — a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

What we use it for

• Running the program: reviews, scores, defenses, your profile and License.
• Signing you in and emailing you about your own account and progress.
• Processing payments and refunds.
• Improving the program — in aggregate, not to profile you individually.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with recruiters or advertisers.

Who processes data for us

• Amazon Web Services (Mumbai region) — hosting and storage.
• Razorpay — payment processing.
• Resend — transactional email (sign-in codes, receipts).
• GitHub — your program repository and pull requests.
• Anthropic — the Claude API powers the AI team and reviews; your prompts and code excerpts are processed to generate responses and review verdicts.

What is public

Nothing is public by default. If you choose to share your profile or a sample of your License, the linked evidence (reviewed PRs, scores, defenses) becomes visible to whoever holds the link — that is the whole point of a License that shows its work. You choose when to share it.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. Email hello@devlicense.com from your registered address to get your account and personal data deleted; we confirm within 7 days. Payment records are retained as required by Indian tax law.
